Ski holidays Liberec – Cultural metropolis in Northern Bohemia!

Liberec

Liberec (German: Reichenberg), with over 100,000 residents, is one of the largest and most important cities in Northern Bohemia. It's located in the Liberec Valley and is surrounded by the expansive peaks of the Jizera Mountains and the Ještěd-Kozákov Mountains. With Ještěd Mountain itself (German: Jeschken) reaching up to 1,012 m, and being the local mountain of Liberec, it provides its residents with an attractive ski area. The city has a long history, which can be seen in its impressive buildings, like the Renaissance Palace in the centre as well as city hall, which was built in a neo-Renaissance style in the 19th century. That being said, there's plenty to see in this modern, lively city: consider visiting the Northern Bohemia Museum or the Babylon shopping and entertainment centre with tons of leisure time options. In winter, it's all about winter sports, whether it be skiing, snowboarding, or tobogganing - it's no wonder with Ještěd Mountain lying right at the gates of the city. In Liberec and its surrounding area, winter sports fans and culture-lovers will find tons of diversity and have just as much fun doing it!

Giant Mountains

The Giant Mountains form the largest part of the Sudetes, which lie between Poland and the Czech Republic. The Sněžka (Snow Top) is the highest peak of the Sudetes and therefore also the highest mountain in the Czech Republic, with an altitude of 1,600 m. Typical for the region are the jagged stone rims and mountain lakes. Near the peak of Mount Medvědín you can find the source of the River Elbe. The winter sports resorts in the Giant Mountain National Park offer everything necessary for a successful skiing holiday. Here you will find well prepared pistes, modern lift systems, endless cross-country ski tracks on beautiful high plateaus and a variety of leisure time and aprés ski facilities, which don't have to hide their faces from their Austrian counterparts!
