Cross-country Dienten
Information on cross-country skiing
7 km km of cross-country tracks:
Hochkönig region offers an attractive cross-country ski network for beginners and experienced Nordic skiers. About a dozen of trails with a total length of 40 km are available, most of which can be found in Maria Alm. The trails have an easy to intermediate level, one variant of Mörser trail is especially challenging. Some of the trails are prepared in both classic- and skating style.
Neadby Dienten is one of the two high altitude trails, a real cross-country highlight in the region: Hochkönig trail at Dientner Sattel is approx. 7 km long and offers a fantastic panoramic view. The trail is also prepared for skating style. In Mühlbach, the second high altitude trail leads e.g. past Arthurhaus on a length of 3 km. Dogs are allowed on the trail when on a leash.
At Hochkönig, cross-country skiing is even possible in the evening. 1 km of the Gasteg trail in Maria Alm is illuminted for night-time Nordic skiing every evening until 21:00. The trail is a 2 km circuit course and, with its easy level, is suitable for cross-country ski beginners.
